The Champions League draw has sprung a great surprise for football fans world wide. After Real Madrid convincingly brushed aside Tottenham and Barcelona easily beat Shakhtar Donetsk, we now have an ‘el classico’ UEFA Champions League Semi Final.
Both two legged Quarter Finals were incredibly one sided. Barcelona went through with a 6-1 win over the two games after goals from Messi, Iniesta and Dani Alves. Real Madrid had a equally easy ride after winning the first leg 4-0 in the Bernabeu after Tottenham had Peter Crouch sent off.
Recently Barcelona have definitely had the upper hand over their bitter rivals. Earlier in the season Real were knocked for five, after a master class from Barcelona lead by the unstoppable Lionel Messi.
Both teams include many of the best players in the world. The prospect of seeing Messi, Xavi, Villa and Iniesta up against Ronaldo, Alonso, Kaka and Di Maria – and this is just to name a few.
The smart money seems to be going on Barcelona, who are slight favourites to progress through to the final at Wembley. Though who would be surprised if a team managed by Jose Mourinho pulled off a shock?
